About Us

Early Discoveries was started by a group of friends during the summer of 1985 and opened its doors in mid-October of 1985. Early Discoveries opened with a license for 19 children and has since grown to the capacity of 42 at any one time. We are a full childcare center serving children ages 15 months to 7 years. The center was developed to address the growing need of quality child care for working parents.

In the fall of 2019, Beth Allen and Renee Momperousse took over as new directors and owners of Early Discoveries. Beth began at Early Discoveries in 1998 in the toddler room and Renee has been an Early Discoveries teacher since 2008.

Our center is located in the Unitarian Universalist Church (we are not associated with the church) at 323 Locust St. in Danvers. The ten acres of woods that surround us make for a lovely setting and provide endless opportunities for the children to explore the world around them.

Early Discoveries is a day school for preschool children and provides positive and consistent care of children aged 15 months to seven years old. Our close proximity to the downtown Danvers area provides access to the library, businesses and parks, and other similarly rich resources for our program.

Early Discoveries is open daily 7:00am – 5:30pm and offers the following programs:

Toddler Enrichment (8:30am-12:30pm):             15 mos - 2 yrs 9 mos

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our program curriculum includes fine motor, large motor, language arts, music, rhythmic activities, dancing, science, and arts and crafts. The kindergarten readiness program also includes pre-reading, writing and math skills. The main focus of our programs is to encourage children to learn through play in activities which are designed to stimulate positive self-concept, individual creativity, as well as curiosity and interest in the world around them. Other goals of our program are to teach children to acquire every day living skills, to learn to play, cooperate, communicate and develop relationships in consideration for peers. We also encourage children to be able to listen to and follow directions, to respect the rights and properties of others, to develop independence, decision making abilities, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Our program curriculum provides a positive and consistent guidance to the children based on their individual needs and development.

We do not discriminate in providing services to children and their families on the basis of race, religion, cultural heritage, political beliefs, national origin, marital status, disability, language spoken or sexual orientation. Children do not have to be toilet trained to attend Early Discoveries.
